Room for the dogs, with the marsh still in view.
For this home, we installed about 100 feet of 5-foot black aluminum picket fence along the marsh edge. The goal was to enclose the yard for the owner’s two dogs while keeping the view open.
The dock needed a different approach. Its wooden boardwalk sits about 4 feet above the ground, giving a dog standing on it a head start over a 5-foot fence. We used 8-foot panels beside the dock to address that jump-over spot, with one walk-through gate onto the boardwalk.
That’s why we look at the yard and dock together when planning a fence for pets.
